Susan Elizabeth Grosen Cate

Susan Elizabeth Grosen Cate, 57, passed peacefully on September 2, 2016, in the comfort of her home in Yorba Linda, California. Surrounded by her husband, David, daughters, Serena (and husband, Josh Liebel), Myranda, and Elizabeth as her courageous battle against cancer came to rest.
 
Born in Sacramento, November 30, 1958, Susan graduated from Luther Burbank High School in 1976 and earned her B.A. at Sacramento State College.  While working at the Department of Justice, Susan met David Cate whom she married on July 11, 1987.  They had three beautiful girls, and the time she didn’t spend with family was spent working at Vineyard Christian School.  March 26, 2007 she returned to work for the state at the California Highway Patrol of Santa Ana, where she met and worked with lifelong friends.  She lived life to the fullest, always had the most contagious smile on her face despite recent health challenges, and she loved everyone unconditionally. You felt her warmth and love until the day she went to heaven.  
 
Along with her husband and children, Susan is survived by her parents, Thomas and Mercedes Grosen and brother, Michael, in Sacramento.  She was loved and will be deeply missed by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends from school and the CHP.
 
Rest in peace, dearest Susan, you will remain in our hearts forever.
