It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marie Lillian (Barba) Lee, who was born in Los Angeles on May 14, 1933, and passed away peacefully in Hacienda Heights on August 26, 2025, at the age of 92.
Marie married the love of her life, Jerry Raymond Lee, at the age of 19, and together they built a beautiful family of seven children. Jerry preceded her in death in February 2003.
For more than 20 years, Marie worked as a bilingual teacher’s aide at 24th Street Elementary, where her children and many grandchildren also attended. She touched countless young lives with her kindness and dedication.
Marie had a lifelong love of reading and was a true crossword puzzle genius. But above all, her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. She was the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who all cherished her deeply.
She is survived by her six living children, her youngest brother Edward Barba, and her ever-growing family who adored her.
Though our hearts ache with her loss, we find peace in knowing she is reunited with our beloved Pop and our dear sister Sugie. Mom, you will be missed more than words can say, and you will be loved—forever and always.
