Celia Medina Obituary

Celia Vasquez Medina, 79, passed away on December 14, 2021, in Anaheim, CA.  A Rosary and Funeral Mass was held at St. Boniface Church in Anaheim on January 12, 2021.

The way Celia showed how much she cared said a lot about her. Some people say ‘I love you’ every day, while others may not say it much but show it with their actions. Celia’s actions spoke louder than words in the way she supported you with all the big and little things she did.  She always had a way of making everyone feel welcome in her home. She would always help everyone that needed it and then, feed them afterwards. She had recipes stashed everywhere throughout her home. She was an amazing cook and was always feeding family and friends that would randomly stop by.  She was known for her homemade enchiladas, Spanish rice, and, of course, tamales during the Christmas season.  Every year, people would always ask if she was making tamales and would stop by only to leave with a dozen or two. But most importantly, she shared her table, her food, her heart, her laughter and her warmth.  The photos in her home reflected this throughout the years.

Her life was not always easy, but she always faced it with grace and humility, living her life on her own terms.  She would never cast judgment, always forgiving, and understanding.  She taught those around her to enjoy the moment, to laugh, love, and break bread.

Celia was born on March 7, 1942, in Aguascalientes, Mexico, immigrating to the US in the 1950’s, and later becoming a US Citizen.  She had two children, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, seven siblings, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.  Her life was full.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed. Celia Medina had a life well lived and leaves us all blessed for having had her in ours.
